Evie Gleeson (5) and Indy Dawes (4) met through adversity. These young girls were both undergoing treatment for childhood cancer at the same hospital. Over a period of two and a half years, the girls became close friends. They are now cancer free and want other children to find hope through their story.
The Heart Project team came together to create a very special picture story book about the girls, beautifully illustrated from photographs taken by each member, and composited into a magical fantasy land.
Evie and Indy took part in a photoshoot that had them acting out the story on each page in a green screen studio. The Heart Project team is headed up by Karen Alsop of Story Art, and 12 photographic artists with a passion to change lives, collaborated to bring this story to live in an exquisitely illustrated picture story book.
The creative team from The Heart Project include Young Hearts, Karley Miller and Brittany Long.
Karley Miller underwent a life changing operation on September 22nd, 2015. At the age of 17, after enduring a childhood full of severe epileptic seizures and drugs to manage the condition, she was given a new lease on life. Karley had half her brain removed in a miraculous (and risky) procedure. She made a full recovery following the operation and now lives a life free of the seizures that held her captive for 17 years.
In May 2017, Karley announced our current young heart – Brittany Long. We first met Brittany through our December 2016 Christmas Wish Project, and discovered her love for Photography.
